Annika Wik holds a PhD from the Department of Cinema Studies, Stockholm University (2001) where she has been teaching and working with research from 1996 to 2012. Currently she works independently with research and development within the field of film and contemporary art. She is conducting projects for the Swedish Film Institute, Film Capital Stockholm and Stockholm County Council; Culture Administration.
Wik is responsible for a course on the history of video art at Konstfack, the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, and she is a frequent lecturer in both film and art contexts.
From April 2016 Annika Wik is the Chairman of the board for Filmform – Art Film & Video Archive.
Between 2007 and 2012 she was working with the idea and development for the independent art producer MAP, Mobile Art Production. She established their research platform in 2010, and worked as Head of Research until 2012.
From 2010-2013 she was part of the research project Trust and the Unfolding Dialogue, artistic research based on the art of, and together with, the artist Esther Shalev-Gerz. The project was based at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gothenburg and was funded by the Swedish Research Council.
She is co-editor of the books Imagining the Audience. Viewing Positions in Artistic and Curatorial Practice (2012) and Rörlig konstproduktion/Mobile Art Production (2010).
